Copper keepsake box with imagery from the 1907 postcard by Julius Bien and Company. Keepsake box is etched copper. Pendant inside is silver and copper and is double sided. The chain is 20" sterling silver.
This postcard was designed by a company that began with a lithographer named Julius Bien. He was originally from Germany, and he came to America in 1848 and started a print studio which ended up becoming a large company. He was also a well known map maker. His company designed many Valentines Day Postcards. Julius Bien died in 1907 the year this postcard was made.
Lastly, it states in his biography that he was the son of a German Artist and Teacher. I think I love that fact the most above all else. Makes me feel hope for my own kids and students to one day become successful creatives.
