Etched copper, enamel, potassium dichromate photo transfer, lots of sgraffito, gold leaf. 

I found this image at @upcyclepartsshop in Cleveland. I like the image because it reminds me of visiting my friend Ersilia and spending the afternoon drinking espresso and grappa, eating a heavy lunch and then taking a nap. 

I love old photographs, because I love to make up stories. Even though the stories are often based on my reality and my relationships with people, I often have a very weird empathy for the people in the photographs. I really love this lady and I hope she was a kind person because I totally based a work of art around her drinking tea.
