These are little mini Champlevé on copper enamels set in sterling silver. Hand fabricated bezel and earring post. They are about .5 inches in diameter.
I’ve been thinking a ton about the art room as hopefully your first space to feel comfortable making things. I found that the younger the student, the more willing to create without feeling judgment or embarrassment from peers. Eventually, as students grew up, they started to feel self-conscious about their skills and would look around the room to compare and see how others were doing. One small part of the job Art teachers have is to give little creatives (mini makers) that space and time to be silly and weird. They work to create a space where it’s ok to make a mess, it’s cool to sing to yourself, it’s important to make mistakes, to start over, or keep working, or flip it over. Anyway, I guess what I am trying to get across is the fact that we makers, should treat our creative spaces like the art room. Let’s allow ourselves to get off social media, and stop looking at what others are doing as signs that we aren’t doing enough. I am proud of these, but as soon as I was finished I began to think of how they could be better. Let’s take a minute today to be proud of our products and make them like a 1st grader. Ok?
