Exact replica of a 1940's Prang and American Crayon Company crayon Box. Made from copper.
The American Crayon Company was estalished in the 1800's and lasted for 167 years until the company moved production into Canda and Mexico in 2012. The Americna Crayon company set up it's first facorty in Sandusky, Ohio, and later expanded to Brooklyn New York. Over time, the company merged with Prang, and took on the platform of providing art to every child via the public classroom. Crayon Companies really took off in developing products for the classroom when kids started attending school, rather then working for thier families thanks to child labor laws and especially the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. Crayon Companies competed with one another on box deisgn, coloring contests and unique adaptations to the crayons, such as making them less wax, and more water soluable for water coloring.
