One morning, after a night of going through my kid's old books, I came across an old Mother Goose Early Reader. I remember picking up the book because of the illustrations. As I flipped through I remembered this rhyme about a ship with a duck as its captain and mice with chains around their neck. I had created the perfect enamel a year prior.
The enamel is a hand-painted image of the sea set in silver. The back has the illustration from the book (illustrator unknown, 1st edition, undated and printed in Czechoslovakia) and the toggle clasp depicts a little white mouse with a chain around its neck. The chain necklace is 24” long and cannot be made longer, but can be made shorter if needed.
This piece took me away from my goals and to-do list for three days. It is a lovely piece and will be sold along with the book.
