Oversize Load is a tiny car created with reclaimed silver and etched with imagery from photos I took of various textures. These textures are from old playground equipment, trucks, and the text on a Lufkin ruler found abandoned in old toolboxes. The wheels are hematite, which is rich in iron oxide, a heavy mineral that symbolizes endurance, balance, and strength. Oversize load is about carrying a lot of weight, physically and mentally. When driving on the highway, I often come across a truck pulling an oversized load and immediately relate. The feeling of everyone around you moving more cautiously, not to tip you over all the while. you slowly make your way carrying an excessive amount of weight to a destination. It is fitting that the wearer places this ring on their finger upside down. An oversized load is symbolic to anyone feeling heavy, moving slowly, carefully, and about to tip over.
